Welcome to the Arctic Section of SNAME!

What's New:
We would like to thank all the presenters who helped make the luncheons for this session a great success!

Thank you to Andrew Best, our final presenter before the summer break and his presentation May 20th on "Telling Stories so they Matter: Bringing the North into Focus.

Presentation / Topic:
"Andrew Best - Telling stories so they Matter: Bringing the North into Focus."

If your story isn't told, it didn't happen or it doesn't matter. Unless of course, you'd prefer to let your competition or the media tell it for you?

Presenter(s) / Guest Speaker(s):
Andrew Best, Executive Producer at Archetype Productions Inc.

Andrew began his television career as a writer in 1991 at Vancouver, B.C.. He soon became a Producer and Director after working on projects for Cominco Mines (Polaris) and the BC Ministry of Forests. What struck him during those projects was the enormous stakes decided in the field of, what was often, misinformed public opinion.

From Vancouver he moved to the Yukon where he became a Manager of Corporate Productions at Northern Native Broadcasting, Yukon. He created the defacto documentary series on the history of native and non-native relations in the Territory; and produced a radio and television campaign to shine a light on a future beyond Land Claims.

In 1998, Andrew created Archetype Productions Inc., and has operated in both Vancouver and Calgary ever since. He’s worked on projects that span from the Bering Strait, to the Gulf of Mexico, from Halifax to Iqaluit. He and his crews have mastered the art of telling stories from the deck of the SDC in a –62 C wind chill, to the Premier’s fireside chat.

Some of Archetype’s Arctic projects include Devon’s “Drilling Offshore: Meeting the Northern Challenge”, Chevron / BP / MGM’s “Kumak / Unipkat Drilling Program” and NorTerra’s “Corporate Video.

Time: Doors open at 11:30am with lunch served at 12:00pm and presentation to follow.
Location: Westin Hotel Downtown (conference rooms) 4th Ave & 3rd St SW.
